ROCSTA

72 Yr old retired land surveyor.  Running own business supplying surveying and GPS equipment and software to the Fiji surveying and mapping community.  Am the lone supplier in Fiji.

Originally from New Zealand, but have spent 44 years overseas, most of it in Fiji and Papua New Guinea, with 2 years in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia.  Retired in 1992 as Principal Surveyor of the PNG Dept of Works, after living 17 years in Port Moresby.

Have always been attracted to vehicles different to the norm.  Among these were an early Jaguar 3.8, VW Beach Buggy, Datsun 240z sports car, ARGO ATV, Kia Ceres truck, and now the Rocsta.

The Beach Buggy and 240z were both rebuilt while in Port Moresby, and were shipped to Fiji, and later sold.  The ARGO was also rebuilt and shipped to Fiji.  It was recently transferred to the mainland, along with our prefab house on an island about 60km east of Suva.  The house is being re-erected about an hours drive from Suva, and the ARGO, which was damaged by sea water, has been taken to our house in Suva, a project for our 16 yr old grandson to work on.  There is a photo in the Photo Gallery of both the Rocsta and the ARGO.

Been into 4 whel drives for over 25 years now, have nine vehicles I've collected over the years from Series2a Land Rover, Austin Gipsy, Ex Military 109GS, two Lada Niva's, Mahindra Indian Brave, Discovery and Grand Vitara, not forgetting the recent addition of a Rocsta DX!  In late 80's/ 90's I was heavily into off roading and greenlaning, travelling to Bristol, Bedford and Kent; got sensible now and only do occassional green laning.  Just had superb soft top made from Mastercovers in Port Solent, expensive but beautifully made.  Thinking of putting 9000lb electric winch on front, will keep people posted on progress.
